Medical Assistant

Job Description:

A medical assistant, pediatric preferred, with a minimum of one year of experience in a high volume office is needed primarily for our front office but will have occasional back office responsibilities. In addition to the required qualifications listed below, the ideal candidate must have strong interpersonal skills, must have a customer-centric mindset and relates well to children and parents to ensure an exceptional customer experience for the entire family.

Job Task and Responsibilities:

  • Consistently demonstrate the highest degree of integrity, honesty and respect to all patients and co-workers
  • Move patients efficiently through appointments as scheduled
  • Promotes teamwork and supports co-workers to ensure overall patient flow remains on schedule
  • Accurately performs patient evaluations such as, vision screening, orthostatics, hearing tests, rapid strep, flu, RSV tests, etc.)
  • Interviews and collects patient data quickly, accurately and consistently
  • Prepare and administer medicines as instructed by the doctor or nurse practitioner
  • Accurately take and document patient’s vital signs (weight, height, blood pressure and temperature)
  • Perform controls as required and accurately document the results in the appropriate logs
  • Ensure optimal level of inventory is maintained for the back office at all times
  • Uphold and model all HIPAA, OSHA, and office policies and procedures at all times
  • Clean exam rooms in accordance to office procedures and replenish medical supplies as needed
  • Answer incoming calls and deal with inquiries or transfer calls as required
  • Ability to triage patients over the phone and in person
  • Schedule patient appointments according to established protocols
  • Register patients according to established protocols
  • Accurately collect new patient information and ensure all patient data is accurate including, insurance and billing information
  • Inform patients of medical office procedures and policies
  • Collect co-pays, balances, etc. over the phone and in person
  • Complete other clerical/office duties as assigned


  • Medical Assistant certification or diploma
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a high volume, fast paced medical office
  • Applicant must possess excellent customer service skills, must be polite, kind, confident, and patient
  • Proficient in taking patient vital signs
  • Superior knowledge of vaccine handling, schedules and administration techniques
  • GRITS administration
  • Lab experience: rapid tests (RSV, flu, mono and strep), hemoglobin, urinary analysis, CBC, Lead, etc.
  • Knowledge of electronic charting software and processes (preferably Office Practicum EMR)
  • Proficient PC skills and ability to work multifaceted systems
  • Experience with newborn through young adult
  • Requires knowledge of office management, process improvement, and medical terminology
  • Thrive in a fast-paced environment

Salary: $10.00 to $15.00 /hour
