Hello! My name is Laura Caristi and I am a certified pediatric nurse practitioner. I knew at a very young age what I wanted to do for a career and continued to work and grow to achieve that dream. I was a nurse for 12 years before returning to school to earn my advanced nursing degree in pediatrics. I completed my Masters degree at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Although I was raised in Massachusetts I quickly grew to enjoy the milder climate of the south.
I have a special interest in asthma and other diseases of the lung and went on to work in the pediatric pulmonary department at the Medical University in South Carolina and then to Arkansas Children’s Hospital (ACH). While at ACH I Had the opportunity to work with children with complex medical needs and who required mechanical ventilation. I learned to embrace the challenge of caring for children that needed such specialized care and how to collaborate with the entire medical team to help families navigate a very confusing medical system. I am an asthma educator an am adept in the diagnosis and management of asthma.
My deepest passion is to help families understand the importance of being expert advocates for the care and well-being of their children. I believe strongly in practicing prevention as the best form of medicine. I try to approach every child the way I would want my child to be treated by a medical provider. As a mother of three grown children I know the concern for your child never stops no matter what their age may be. I am grateful to be part of the Grayson Pediatrics team and look forward to serving the community for many years to come.
